Based in Turin since 2017, Lapsus Lumine is a contemporary music ensemble that combines three voices with a double-bass in its compositions and improvisations. Whether creating new pieces or redefining the work of others, the ensemble’s focus is the simplicity of the song as well as the complexity of the counterpoint and polyphony. Rhythm, melody, noise and words in different languages are interwoven, resulting an evocative sound that delivers to the listener a unique sonic experience.
In 2019, Lapsus Lumine expanded its line-up with cellist Ernst Reijseger and drummer Jim Black to debut the Moondog Project, at the Torino Jazz Festival. The work was inspired by the music and poetry of Louis Thomas Hardin, the American “outsider” composer known professionally as Moondog.
Between April 2020 and February 2022 Marta del Grandi has been replacing Giulia Deval.
In autumn 2020 Lapsus Lumine started a collaboration with the thereminist and multi-instrumentalist Vincenzo Vasi, one of the most original and versatile Italian musicians, and gave birth to a new project called Lapsus a Schema Libero, which was selected for the Italian Ministero degli Affari Esteri e della Cooperazione Internazionale call “Vivere all’Italiana in Musica”.
In 2023 Alessandra K Soro and Alice Isnardi joined the ensemble replacing Sabrina Oggero Viale and Marta Del Grandi.
